- Contributions to food safety management recognized; biopharmaceutical management expertise extended to the food sector
- IoT technology ensures data integrity for temperature, humidity, and shock measurements
Willog (co-CEOs Bae Sung-hoon and Yoon Ji-hyun), an AIoT-based supply chain intelligence solutions company, announced on the 15th that it has received the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) Commissioner Award in recognition of its contributions to the imported food safety management domain.
This award reflects high evaluation of Willog's establishment of a data-driven management and verification system capable of managing and identifying quality and safety risks throughout the entire supply chain, from overseas shipment of imported food through customs clearance to domestic distribution. It demonstrates that, as global supply chains have grown more complex, standards for food safety management are shifting beyond simply maintaining temperature to structures in which the reliability of the management process can be verified through data.
Willog drew particular attention for applying the management standards and data management practices accumulated in the most stringent biopharmaceutical cold chain environments to food distribution management, thereby raising the safety and reliability of cross-border food distribution processes. This is evaluated as having significant industrial importance, as it elevated the standards for imported food safety management to a new level.
In recent years, the food and distribution sector has seen growing demand for data-driven management systems capable of maintaining management records, with the aim of reducing regulatory compliance costs and quality dispute risks. Imported food is especially subject to limited pre-shipment management coverage for overseas segments. As a result, systems that can verify the continuous management status throughout the entire process during post-verification are becoming critically important, with data continuity and traceability emerging as core requirements.
In response to this trend, Willog has built a system that continuously collects and manages temperature, humidity, and shock data generated during transport using IoT-based technology. A key design feature is that data is managed seamlessly from the point of generation through storage and utilization, using QR-based verification and sensor devices equipped with BLE and LTE communications.
Data Integrity is the core concept Willog emphasizes. This means not only the accuracy of measured values, but also the ability to consistently verify after the fact how, when, and where the data was generated and managed. This approach aligns with the direction commonly required by global food and pharmaceutical safety management regulations.
Willog's technology has been deployed and proven at major domestic conglomerates, pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, and global logistics companies. From biopharmaceuticals subject to stringent quarantine standards to imported fresh food requiring preservation of freshness, and extending to K-food products exported overseas, Willog is serving as the benchmark for supply chain safety management across a wide range of sectors.
Willog CEO Bae Sung-hoon stated: "This MFDS Commissioner Award demonstrates that the center of food safety management is shifting from simple standards compliance to management frameworks proven through data. We will continue to focus on technological advancement so that food safety can be established in a structure that is more transparent and explainable."
