Willog & Hyundai Glovis Deploy IoT Sensor Devices in Global KD Shipping Operations

Willog and Hyundai Glovis have introduced IoT sensor devices into global KD (Knock-Down) shipping operations to improve supply chain visibility across 10,000km routes.

  • Real-time precision tracking of cargo condition over a 13,000 km journey from Busan to Alabama, USA, using IoT sensor devices
  • Data collection spanning temperature, humidity, shock, tilt, and light intensity, with immediate alerts upon detection of anomalies
  • One-year DB-based pre-analysis of quality-degrading factors, with planned expansion into battery and cold chain domains

Willog (co-CEOs Bae Sung-hoon and Yoon Ji-hyun), an AIoT-based supply chain intelligence solutions company, has announced the launch of a project with Hyundai Glovis, a global integrated logistics company, to introduce an AIoT-based supply chain management (SCM) solution aimed at innovating the quality of export and import transport for knocked-down (KD) automotive components.

This collaboration was initiated to control, through data, the quality variables that arise during ultra-long-distance multimodal transport spanning land and sea. Beginning this year, for a period of one year, Willog and Hyundai Glovis will attach Willog's IoT sensor devices to KD cargo containers destined for global automotive production hubs in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, commencing efforts to improve shipping quality.

Automotive KD components are cargo highly sensitive to environmental changes during long-distance transit. One representative route runs from the Port of Busan to Los Angeles and then to a factory in Alabama, USA, covering a total distance of more than 13,000 km, comprising approximately 9,700 km by sea and 3,400 km by land. The drastic environmental changes and frequent loading and unloading operations along this journey are identified as primary causes of cargo quality deterioration.

Through IoT sensor devices, Willog collects not only real-time location data but also environmental data including:

  • Temperature and humidity changes by transport segment
  • Intensity and frequency of external shocks
  • Tilt measurements
  • Light intensity readings

In particular, when a sudden environmental change or anomaly is detected, an immediate alert is triggered, enabling stakeholders to prepare real-time response measures. The collaboration is expected to deliver measurable improvements in supply chain stability.

The core of this collaboration lies in "data asset creation." Data collected during transport over the course of one year will be consolidated into a database (DB). Willog and Hyundai Glovis plan to analyze the DB to identify patterns in anomalous conditions and, based on these findings, establish preemptive risk management measures such as route optimization and packaging improvements to enhance transport quality.

Willog CEO Bae Sung-hoon stated: "Hyundai Glovis, the frontrunner of Korea's logistics DX, choosing Willog's technology is a testament to the growing importance of global supply chain visibility. Beyond simple tracking, we will convert logistics data into business intelligence and contribute to solidifying K-logistics technology's position in the global market."

Meanwhile, Willog plans to participate in the International Logistics Industry Exhibition (KOREA MAT 2026), held over four days starting March 31, where it will showcase the monitoring solution applied for Hyundai Glovis along with its logistics-specialized AI capabilities.
